Happy National POPCORN DAY!!!

Posted by Maria Kang on January 31, 2007

wwoooohooo!! As I write this, I am literally, eating popcorn!!

In fact, I will honestly admit that I eat low fat popcorn EVERY DAY! Why? Because it’s high in fiber and goes great when killing the taste of the protein shake I consume right before I dove into this fun finger food (popcorn!)

So eat up! Oh! And I have to mention that I love, love, love the small mini popcorn bags the most! It not only monitors my intake but it’s super cute!!! :-)

TOP 6 ways to USE MYSPACE TO launch your FITNESS CAREER!

Posted by Maria Kang on January 31, 2007

I thought about this idea when I was reading e.How.com’s Tips on using myspace to ‘launch a career’. While the title interested me, I thought their tips were pretty pathetic in regards to being ‘different’ from other pieces of advice out there – especially since anyone can post a resume on yahoo jobs or hot jobs or anywhere else that accepts online resumes.

Personally, most of my jobs have come from networks of people who were in the industry I wanted to be in. It is also a place where you build your ‘referral’ base. DO NOT THINK for a second that HR and future bosses don’t check your space out. THEY DO.

If you are a myspace person and are wondering how to ‘get in’ with the ‘right’ people and the ‘right’ company – then read on!

1. First set up an account. It’s easy. Click here.

2. Build your profile symbolically by showing your passion, background and interest in fitness.

3. Post Pictures that positively represent which part of the industry you want to attract. For example -

- if you are a hot, sexy, fit model, then post pictures that will attract lesions of fans, photographers and business’ who will want to market you.

- if you are a serious competitor, post your competition pics and the supplements you use…DEFINITELY be a spokesperson for the supplement company you want to attract prior to actually being sponsored or working for them. That will give you tons of kudos!

4. Make Friends with those in the same industry and WRITE TO THEM. Find mentors and role models. Myspace is different from personal websites because this is still regarded as a ‘friendship’ network and not a ‘website’ where you don’t know if the person even reads your emails.

5. Be laser focused and have defined intentions when you are playing on myspace. It is very easy to become distracted. Make sure you are answering emails, writing emails, posting comments and updating your space as needed. Always think of the long term goal when undergoing any action.

6. Give before you receive - be a ‘value’ in someone’s life and not someone who just wants to ‘take’ information, industry secrets and network of friends. People of influence deal with those people all the time, so its absolutely necessary to set yourself apart by being honest, appreciative, and sincere.

Who knows? Your ‘friends’ could change your life.

Courtney Cox speaks about being a Healthy Celebrity Role Model.

Posted by Maria Kang on January 31, 2007

Every hit show seems like it has a ‘period’ when everyone starts looking ematiated. Think “Ally MyBeal” and “Desperate Housewives.” – well, one of my sister’s favorite shows: “Friends” was definitely a hit with the female fans wanting to look like the very skinny Courtney Cox and Zone Dieter, Jennifer Aniston.

Now that reality is sitting in and a baby has been born, Courtney Cox recently stated in an interview how she regrets representing a very ’skinny’ frame when filming the hit show. As many role models realize ‘after the fact’ – their influence far outweighs what they perceive during that moment in time. It’s good to have her positive words out there so other’s can review what they symbolize to their fans, friends and family…and choose to positively represent a healthy figure.

Courtney Cox says, “When I was on Friends, there was a period when I was really thin and I thought I looked great – but in retrospect, it was not so good. I did not have anorexia but they kept writing about it. It’s bad for kids across America to think that people on the show they look up to have something like that. It was tough.”

Eva Mendes doesn’t like salads.

Posted by Maria Kang on January 31, 2007

But she loves getting recognized for her super, svelte body! Eva Mendes has stated that it is a “Struggle to get on the treadmill and dislikes Salads” and unlike other naturally skinny actresses, she works really hard to maintain her shape. According to an upcoming article of her in “Shape” Magazine, she used to be a junk food junkie and had no energy when she ate unhealthy and lacked an exercise routine.

Personally, I’m thinking that talking about your weight loss and fit body has become such a ‘buzz’ subject that all celebrities are starting to discuss how ‘hard’ it is to be ‘fit’.

Bottom Line? Who wouldn’t be fit if they were paid millions to stay a certain size??
