Mommy can you please give me a bowl of Diabetes??

Posted by Maria Kang on February 1st, 2007

Have you ever  listened to the radio while driving and hear ‘that’ ad ….you know, the one that has a kid saying: “Mommy can I have heart disease” or “Dad can you give me a spoonful of diabetes??”  Very interesting ads! And while it is straight to the point and a little disturbing…I THINK IT WORKS.

A 2002 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association indicated that 9 million American children are overweight, three times the number from two decades earlier. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta found that obesity among children ages 2 to 5 has increased 35 percent in 10 years.

Kids are our future - and education is power. A campaign of marketing initiatives including billboards, print ads, television…are all targeting obesity and kids. Thank God!

Disturbing? Not as disturbing as McDonald happy meals for dinner every night!
