Do YOU have what it takes to compete in “FITNESS”??

Posted by Maria Kang on February 12, 2007

Are you interested in competing in the ‘fitness’ portion in fitness competitions? You know…the one with all the gymnastic moves, strength positions and music?? Well – if you have the balls to do it koodles to you! Don’t worry if you don’t have a huge ‘gymnastics’ background or reaching your forties or even fifities! When I’ve watched competitions, I noticed that those who had the ‘most’ gymnastic moves weren’t always the ones who won.

The girls that won ‘fitness’ competiitons were the ones who:
1. Had a great ‘presence’ or attitude on stage. Their mentality was focused not on ‘jitters’ or anxiety, they were focused on ‘performing’ for the crowd.
2. Had smooth transtitions from one movement to the next. Every element to the routine flowed well.
3. They had A’s on preparation: from their upbeat music, their glittery outfit, their makeup, hair, props, etc.
4. They were Unique. While some routines mimic others in the past…the one’s that won were always unique, creative and one of a kind.
** I also wanted to note that while politics will always be a part of any piece of life…know that if you ‘got what it takes’ and it is obvious from an audience perspective, then it doesn’t matter if this is your first time or a nobody – you are bound to be recognized. So try it!
