Beware of the Invasion of the GIRL SCOUT COOKIES!

Posted by Maria Kang on March 13, 2007

I LOVE girl scout cookies! Especially thin mints and smosas! The hardest part is avoiding the small voice of a little girl asking you to support her troop…absolutely difficult! So, last Friday I actually indulged in some of the cookies my mother bought and they were dee-lish!

However! I have to WARN EVERYONE that Girl Scout Cookies are NOT transfat free!!! What does that mean? It means that according to FDA guidelines, an item with less than 0.5 percent of trans fat per serving can be deemed “zero trans fat.” If you eat more than 2 cookies (which I totally do) then you are eating more than the serving size and could therefore be ingesting significant quantities of trans fats unintentionally.

Moral of Story?
1. You SHOULDN’T be eating cookies in the first place.
2. If you DO eat cookies, make sure its transfat free.
3. Walk in the other door to the grocery store where girl scouts are not present!

WARNING: They are coming to a grocery store near YOU!
