How do we save America from being FAT??

Posted by Maria Kang on April 11, 2007

I’m listening to this show (FAT: what no one is telling you) while typing and I’m hearing a bunch of things that I’ve heard before regarding America’s weight problem:

- needing to walk more
- fat discrimination
- portion sizes
- becoming a community activist
- genetics
- bad parenting
etc….

It’s unfortunate that we continue this discussion without much progression in the answers.

my thoughts?

- find something you like doing that’s active and DO IT. It could be: swimming, dancing, playing a sport, mall walking, whatever! Exercise is anything that brings about movement.
- STOP eating foods that have been drugged, stressed and hormonally induced to be FAT. YOU BECOME WHAT YOU EAT
- Ride your bike, walk and STOP being lazy.
- Find a MOTIVATION to live and want to stay fit.
Also, even though there is some ‘fat discrimination’ I do feel that since over 50% of our population is overweight, there is not so much public scrutiny as there used to be. Personally, I believe ‘feeling unaccepted’ is a huge motivator for people. However, since ‘fat’ has become more accepted, its not a negative conditioning effect.

Unfortunately…this image is NOT abnormal. We need to swim more and stop laying around drinking margaritas!
