Janet Jackson is the fitness role model for the last 2.5 decades! She has been chubby, muscular, svelt and extremely overweight. In this latest issue of US Weekly, she talks about her challenges, her fitness tips and her newfound security in being exactly fine with where she is.
According to the article, she trains with her trainer Tony Martinez for 1/2 an hour, plays fitness games, enjoys ‘fun’ activities like beach volley ball, and while she hates working out, she knows it is essential in keeping the weight down!
She promotes moderation, a causal glass of wine, dark chocolate and a low carb diet at about 1350-1600 calories/day.
YES! I enjoy reading about celebrities who take a positive and active spin on our health crisis and don’t represent a skinny, ‘don’t eat any carbs’ person.

WOW! She MUST have a album/movie coming out…. because as y’all know, it’s ALL ABOUT WHAT MOTIVATES YOU.

One of the most important factors in creating a successful and healthy lifestyle is to be around a supportive group of people who are also in their journey’s to be better physically and mentally. Your environment can either work for you or against you. I personally have been a part of many communities in the past, including Louis’ Vivalafitness site (which is gone), bodybuilding.com’s bodyspace and even dabbed with Oxygen’s online forum.
However! There is a new kid in town! Professional bodybuilder and entrepreuner, Jamo Nezzar, has extended his jamcore training site with a new feature: myfittribe.com – To put it simply, it’s similar to myspace but it’s all about fitness! Plus! It has a consistent flow of health tips, role models, product reviews…even celebrity gossip. (sounds like my fitness blog doesn’t it!)
Check it out here!!

That’s RIGHT – he’s talking to YOU!

There are times when I post ‘non-fitnessy stuff’ (which is why I took the liberty of creating a category for it) and wanted to extend a very, happy birthday to ONE OF THE FITTEST PEOPLE I know….Spencer Fesmire!
It is always a joy to experience another year – and grow a little bit older with health, vitality, agility and grace because you live a healthy and clean lifestyle. So…Happy Birthday Spence!
Your presence is a blessing to this world. I miss you very much and wish I could spend this special day with you – may this day be happy, fantastic, fun, festive and fabulous!!

Playing at the park – Spencer is hanging on the monkey bars and that is my little nephew hugging the pole.
Isn’t this super funny!?

I like Calorieking.com for a few reasons….Number one, I’ve always had that little itty, bitty book they sale for about $5.00 in my car and kitchen. Number two, they are up to date on restaurants, frozen foods and new brands. Number three, they have this new feature that I’m sooo excited about! On the right side of their index is the ‘EXERCISE REQUIRED’ to burn the food if you choose to consume it. Love it, Love it, Love it!
Considering that I jog/walked/lunged all around the park this morning, I think I burned off the mini-flake I ate yesterday! ha!
Since I’ve been traveling I’ve wondered how much calories are in some of the ‘unfamiliar’ foods that I’ve eaten. I’m not ’super anal’ but I do believe it’s important to know how much ‘energy’ is in the things I consume. I DO WRITE DOWN APPROXIMATES OF EVERYTHING I EAT. It doesn’t make me ‘anal’ it makes me ‘conscious’ = just like having a personal diary and weekly reflections.
I ate a mini-sized “FLAKE” the other day (I was interested since my uncle told me to bring him back some) and they were delicious (since I love chocolate) What I love about this candy is that it also comes in Dark Chocolate (which is a huge buzz with chocolate lately)
I recommend everyone to start playing with calorieking a bit to begin getting used to the calories in food.

They are dee-li-ciousss!!!
