Maria’s Fitness Pet Peeve #9: steroids
Obviously, I’m huge on the sport of fitness. The pageant girl in me will always enjoy watching subjective sports such as bodybuilding and figure competitions – however, I do have to say that when I read competitor interviews, listen to podcasts and watch the shows…it annoys me when they talk about ALL the supplements they take (usually to promote their sponsor) but they never talk about one of the main ingredients: which for men of bodybuilding, is usually steroids.
I don’t understand? If steroids are illegal and bodybuilding is a world reknown sport, then why don’t investigators investigate? It is obvious to the masses that pros use steroids in massive amounts – (I do have to say that anything is bad for you when taken in extreme) SO, why doesn’t anyone talk MORE about it?
Also, isn’t it annoying when they name of the creatine, protein, fat burner, etc. that they use….but they don’t pull out a needle and a bottle and say this is what they inject to help them recover faster, gain more strength and build bigger muscles?
What are the dangers of steroids?

How many figure/fitness competitors do you think take some form of steroids? Do you think it is essential to take this path in order to be a ‘competitive’ pro?
Just curious about your thoughts…
