do you want fruit or candy?
Last night I had a TON of fun handing out treats to the kids.
I dressed up in my Chiquita Banana costume and besides my annual Halloween candy, I also bought a ton of small mandarins, apples and bananas to hand out.
When the kids rang the doorbell, I shocked them with my bright costume, big smile and choice of either candy or fruit.
My mother thought that most kids would choose candy – and if the parents were there, they would choose fruit.
I’ve always thought that people underestimate the wisdom of children and knew that many kids would choose the fruit bowl. In accordance to the 80/20 rule, I predicted that 20% of kids would choose the fruit, the other 80% would choose the candy. If I had extra fruit left over, it would be okay…afterall, I eat healthy 95% of the time.
It turned out that 80% of the kids chose fruit (without their parents guidance) and 20% chose the candy. I was out of fruit within the first 40 minutes! I EVEN went into my fridge and grabbed my organic apples and favorite pears to hand out after all was taken.
Amazing!
It was soo much fun and the kids really enjoyed the short encounter at my house. It’s good to know that kids (especially those who were overweight) consciously chose to take the fruit versus the chocolate.
My cheeks were sore by the end of the night and I had to turn my lights off early because there were more kids than expected trick or treating in the neighborhood.
Hope y’all had a great Halloween!

I had to go into my own stash of fruits!
I looovvee holidays.
