I HATE working out in the Winter time!
Just Kidding!
I actually sorta, kinda, don’t like it, BUT! The gym is less crowded, there is more available equipment and parking spaces.
Tonight I absolutely, positively, did NOT feel like working out.
1. It was ‘that time of the month’
2. I was considering performing cardio at home while watching tv.
3. The gym seemed dead, boring and unexciting.
So what did I do????
I WORKED OUT - I stopped contemplating, stopped complaining, stopped considering my options…and TOOK ACTION.
I closed my eyes, walked into the gym, slid my membership card and started warming up.
Instead of my usual 5 minute workout, I decided to extend it for 10 minutes. While warming up, I started ENVISIONING my strength training workout - I examined what equipment was being used and how long it will take to complete my circuit before my kickboxing class started at 7. (I arrived at 630)
SO!!!! I ended up having a GREAT workout. I performed 2 exercises each for chest, back and shoulders.
HERE are my tips for working out when you are depressed about workin out in the winter time:
1. Envision WHY you are training and what you want to look like.
2. Warm up longer than normal
3. Dedicate 30 minutes minimum to exercising - if you don’t like it, then you can leave. (usually you are revved up by that time.)
4. Think INTENSITY
5. Perform different and fun exercises.
6. Take a class that forces you tos tay for an entire hour.

Take a class when you don’t want to train! YOU will feel guilty if you leave before the hour is over!
