Am I taking too many supplements?

Posted by Maria Kang on January 25, 2008

THAT is exactly what I was thinking when I:

- took my fat burners before my morning cardio

- took my EFA’s with my morning breakfast

- took a Protein Shake for a mid meal

- took my Glutamine prior to my evening workout

- took my fat burners again during my evening workout

- took my Multi with my dinner

For someone who is not used to taking ANYTHING, it has definitely been an interesting couple days.

Here is what I really, honestly, truthfully think about all this extra supplementation.

Firstly: I go BASIC. I don’t take a bunch of stuff, I take what  I need….which is extra protein, an energy stimulant, a muscle recovery supplement and a multi. PERIOD.

Secondly: I don’t drink coffee for energy, so I need an energy stimulant.

Thirdly: I don’t eat enough protein so I need a shake (since I don’t eat a ton of meat and it’s hard to consume enough when I’m training hard)

Fourthly: I don’t eat enough food and need a multivitamin for nutrients and minerals  and my EFA’s (since I am on a caloric deficit)

Lastly: I train hard so I need extra glutamine to help assist with recovery

I suggest everyone look into supplementation: whether they need extra calcium for strong bones or extra Vitamin C for their immune system.

It is 7:45am and I already took my : combo master cleanse (I like taking this when I feel like I need to cleanse my system) , glutamine and fat burner (as I trained cardio at 6am).

My goal today is to not only be REALLY good about supplementing my program, but also eat clean this weekend, except for a free meal on Sunday! wooohoo!!!
