The other day I went to Shriner’s Children Hospital to support my girlfriend’s friend who’s child is in the hospital. We were in the burn unit where I saw a ton of kids ages 4-12 in wheel chairs with amputated legs/arms as well as first degree burn areas everywhere from their face, arms, legs, etc. It was a nice experience to spend with my boyfriend David, my girlfriend Janelle and her fitness team from Powerhouse gym.
They performed a small bodybuilding exhibition with many of the competitors at the Contra Costa contest earlier this month. I was supposed to attend but had a family engagement the day of the contest.
Daniel Koyama was the overall winner and he is an absolute AWESOME person inside and out. I’ve seen him a lot at the Powerhouse gym and it was nice to see him again at the charity event. With three other guys he posed and took pics…the kids were definitely happy!
Of course, that was a trick question as we all should know that if you don’t have the same genetics, it doesn’t matter how many squats you do, you won’t look like her. However, whoever inspires you to workout is a good person to follow!
Kim Kardashian was recently on the cover of Fitness RX (the first time they didn’t have a model in a bikini/workout clothes on the cover) and she looked beautiful. In her standard tight fitting, knee length dress, she showed off all her curves, including her famous derriere.
It seems every five years, the media chooses a new butt to follow…first it was Jennifer Lopez and now Kim Kardashian.
It also seems that every 3 years, there is a new sex tape that makes a non-celebrity – famous…first it was Paris Hilton and now Kim Kardashian.
Lastly, it seems that every year a ‘celebrity’ starts a reality show – first it was Jessica Simpson and now…well, you get the point.
However! Not many start a fitness video – the only one’s I can think of from the top of my head would be Cindy Crawford, Carmen Electra and Brooke Burke.
I happen to think Kim Kardashian is a beautiful woman with a realistic physique. I am interested to see more of what her workout video is all about – for some sneak peaks click below.
ScienceDaily (May 29, 2008) — Men who exercise often are less likely to die from cancer than those who don’t exercise, according to a new study from the Swedish medical university Karolinska Institutet. In the study, the researchers looked at the effect of physical activity and cancer risk in 40,708 men aged between 45 and 79.
Over the seven year period of the study, published in the British Journal of Cancer, 3,714 men developed cancer and 1,153 died from the disease. Men who walked or cycled for at least 30 minutes a day had an increased survival from cancer with 33 per cent, than the men who exercised less or did nothing at all.
The researchers also found that a more extensive programme of walking and cycling for between 60 and 90 minutes and a day, led to a l6 per cent lower incidence of cancer. But these activities only led to a five per cent reduction in cancer rates among the men who walked or cycled for 30 minutes day, a finding which could be due to chance.
The researchers surveyed men from two counties in central Sweden about their lifestyle and the amount of physical activity they did. They then scored these responses and compared the results with data officially recorded in a central cancer registry over a seven year period.
“These results show for the first time, the affect that daily exercise has in reducing cancer death risk in men aged between 45 and 79″, says Professor Alicja Wolk, who led the study. “We looked at more moderate exercise such as housework, undertaken over a longer period of time and found that this also reduced men’s chances of dying from the disease.”
