Fast Food Calorie Info now REQUIRED…in NY.
New York has always been the forerunner with health issues…they banned hydrogenated oils in fast food restaurants, now they are requiring restaurants with 15 chains or more to post calorie information.
Now where they post calorie information…now that is a different story.
I’ve seen nutrition info posted on the side of the wall when you walk in…
I’ve also seen McDonalds post nutritional informational behind their sandwich boxes.
I THINK they should have PLASTERED on their to go bags
That would be funny!
However, I do think the best bet is doing what McDonalds already sorta does…which is post info on the paper wrappings of the food. I remember taking a bite of my niece’s sandwich and quickly stopping after I looked at the calorie info!

Federal Court Says New York City Calorie Posting
Law Effective Immediately
May 1, 2008
A federal appeals court on Tuesday ruled that a provision requiring New York City chain restaurants with at least 15 U.S. locations to post calorie information on menus should take effect immediately as planned, Reuters reports. The New York City Restaurant Association had asked the court to delay implementation of the calorie posting mandate while the association goes through the appeals process following a ruling in favor of the calorie-posting provision. In its lawsuit, the association contends that the mandate violates free speech and will make menus difficult to read. Following the latest ruling, city officials said they expect restaurants to begin complying with the new rules and will begin issuing fines for noncompliance after midnight on July 18. The restaurant association, meanwhile, will return to court on June 9 to present its appeal (Reuters/Yahoo! News, 4/30/08).
