Menu Labeling is NOW MANDATORY in CA :-)
I LOVE IT!
When I was younger actually – fast food chains had a great laugh outta me when I ALWAYS asked for their nutrition facts. NOW, I keep a small book with me in my car. If you don’t have any idea what’s in your food and don’t have a book like me, THEN this new legislation was made JUST FOR YOU!

California Institutes Menu Labeling Law for Chain
Restaurants
California on Tuesday became the first state in the nation to approve legislation requiring chain and fast-food restaurants to post calorie counts on menus and menu boards, the Los Angeles Times reports. Signed into law by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R), the measure affects all restaurants with 20 or more locations in California and will be phased in across a two-year period. By July 1, 2009, all affected restaurants will be required to provide brochures containing nutrition information at the point of sale. As of January 1, 2011, however, those restaurants will be required to print calorie information on menus and indoor menu boards. Officials expect the new measure to affect approximately 17,000 restaurants and fast-food chains. Calling the legislation a “huge victory for Californians,” a representative from the California Center for Public Health Advocacy, which supported the bill, predicted that “menu labeling will quickly sweep the nation as other states recognize the benefit of providing consumers with basic nutrition information.” To date, New York City and several California localities have implemented a menu labeling requirement, and 16 other states are currently considering similar legislation (McGreevy, Los Angeles Times, 9/30/08 [registration required]; California Center for Public Health Advocacy release, 9/30/08).
