Post-Prego Fitness Blog: is running from a dog exercise?
Seriously.
Yesterday I was rollerblading with my dog and all of a sudden, I see a lassie-like dog run from around the corner without a leash! I could hear his owner calling after him but he began chasing me and my dog, Tiger. Now…I’m not always scared to have my dog interact with other dogs, but lately I have been! Tiger has some serious social skills and immediately attacks dogs that approach without notice. I think it’s because he smells my fear and also feels he needs to protect me!
SO I began skating REALLY fast. The other dog was around 20 feet away and had two more legs than me! I skated for my life! I was thinking of knocking on someone’s door…I looked for areas of elevation…ALL I knew was that if these dogs met, I wouldn’t be able to handle the situation.
- I thought about being helpless on rollerblades
- I thought about being bitten and not being able to heal due to my blood disorder
- I thought about my dog getting hurt
SO many things ran through my mind from an unleashed dog! After a period of five minutes, I was able to escape the dog…at that point, my lungs were BURNING in a way I never felt before. My poor dog was SO tired. He’s around ten years old so he’s definitely not the most energetic animal in the world! Since I spent the majority of the day at the State Capitol for a fitness event for kids, I didn’t have the time, motivation or energy to workout. It’s also very HOT here in Sacramento, so the heat definitely doesn’t make me want to workout! With that dog running after us I had a very unexpected workout, LOL!
Today my goal is to train shoulders, abs and cardio. I was VERY unmotivated this morning though…if I don’t get out the door by 5 or 6am I don’t feel like working out. Seriously! I’m very structured and somewhat workout snobbish in that way. I also like to train during classes at night…my only issue with that is: it gets so busy I never do weights at night.
Anyways.
My exercise goals are:
Mon: Kickboxing, abs
Tues: active rest
Wed: Shoulders/abs, cardio
Th: Morning run/Chest/back/zumba
Fri: Arms/cardio
Sat: Cardio
My diet has been pretty good. I actually have lost my appetite more than anything. This past weekend I packaged a lot my ‘diet’ foods for easy grabbing so eating is really a no-brainer for me. Just pull the tupperware out of the fridge, heat then eat!
I am 2 pounds away from my second goal and am very excited to see that in the next week….so I have to stay focused!
Have a wonderful day everyone!
