Jessica Simpson is Detoxing.

Posted by Maria Kang on June 30, 2010

Recently someone asked me what I thought about detoxing….

What do I think???????

I think it’s awesome! I think it’s important that you allow your body’s digestive systems to take a break from the processed foods, booze and meats that you consume on a weekly basis. I personally, like to eat “live foods” such as salads and smoothies to help cleanse my system. It’s always been hard for me to go on a strict liquid diet. When I started eating more raw, boy did my system clean out!

Check out Jessica Simpson’s plan below!

Jessica’s Detox Diet

From yum to om! Simpson turns to a quick vegan cleanse and her trusted trainer to help reclaim her slimmer self

During a june 24 dinner at We s t Hollywood ’s Nobu, Jessica Simpson opted for a light dinner of yellowtail with jalapeño and washed it down with a cup of green tea, rather than her favorite sake. Her teetotaling, sources say, is all in the name of getting trim. “When she drinks, she loses her judgment about what she eats!” an insider close to the booze-loving bombshell tells Us. Adds another source, “She’ll try anything to lose weight.”

Indeed, the 5-foot-3 actress appears to be pulling out all the stops in an effort to slim down in time for her 30th birthday, July 10. “Shocked my system with a vegan diet, special Pu-erh tea from China and cupping since Friday,” the actress Twittered June 27 about her most recent alternative plan.

New Brew

“She did the cleanse for the weekend. She was eating a vegan diet for a few days. She wanted to detox for her health,” a pal confirms. Simpson — who notably lost 20 pounds in two months in 2007 — even flew the San Francisco–based healer Master Ming Yi Wang to developing a program for

her. He recommends everyone start with hot water in the morning and then drink the Pu-erh tea throughout the day,” Medicine Buddha Teahouse & Healing Center manager Lavinia Bortis tells Us of the beverage, which costs $1,500 for 8 ounces. “It’s great for the kidneys and expelling waste out of the body.”

On top of swapping her fave chicken tacos and blueberry pomegranate margaritas for tofu and tea, the single singer has been hitting the gym for 45-minute workouts three to five days a week with her longtime trainer, Mike Alexander (who famously coached her into shape for her role as Daisy Duke in 2005’s Dukes of Hazzard). “Jessica is looking at healthy eating and exercise as a lifestyle rather than just for aesthetics,” Alexander tells Us.

And though Simpson denied that her cleanse was a die-hard diet — “It has nothing to do with weight! It’s about understanding my body through hydration and alkalinity,” she tweeted June 27 — a source counters: “Don’t believe a word Jessica says. She is desperate to lose the weight!”

Workout

“We do a lot of resistance training and use her own body weight to tone her lower body without bulking up,” Simpson’s trainer, Mike Alexander, tells Us.

Healing tea

“Pu-erh is similar to green tea,” says NYC nutritionist Keri Glassman. “It contains antioxidants, which help rev metabolism and burn fat.”

Vegan diet

Master Ming Yi Wang suggests eating only plant-based food but forbids onion and garlic, which “stimulate bad energy.”

Cupping

How the Bachelorette Slimmed DOWN!

Posted by Maria Kang on June 23, 2010

I’m not a big fan of watching the Bachelor or the Bachelorette, but I am a big fan of celebrities making incredible strides in their fitness! Check out the most recent Bahelorette, Ali , in this week’s US Weekly!

ALI’S SPEEDY SLIMDOWN

The Bachelorette’s Fedotowsky debuts a newly toned and taut bod

As Ali Fedotowsky supped on sashimi and edamame with a group of girlfriends at L.A. ’s Koi restaurant June 17, the Bachelorette got a lot of looks — but not for her made-for-TV love life. Swathed in a form-fitting minidress and more than $18,000 worth of Susan Foster jewels, “she looked absolutely amazing,” a fellow diner tells Us of the now-svelte star. “She lost weight.” And fast. Fedotowsky, 25, packed on 15 pounds during the show’s food- and booze-fueled filming. “She just ate and relaxed,” an insider says of the star, who often noshed on chocolate croissants during morning shoots. Those habits changed after she saw her plumped-up physique on TV and experienced a barrage of scrutiny about her weight. “It upset her that everyone thought she was a heifer,” a pal says of the 5-foot-7 Massachusetts native, who also indulged in comfort food after the show wrapped. “It hurt her feelings.”

Her Surefire Plan

To trim down fast, the former Facebook ad-sales rep cut out cocktails and fatty foods, instead eating three small high-protein meals a day (think egg whites and sushi). She also added runs and hikes. “It isn’t hard for her to get back to where she wants to be,” says the friend. “She isn’t eating as much as she was on the show.” Now that she’s done filming, Fedotowsky, who can’t yet reveal which suitor she picked on the ABC series, is deciding where to settle. “She likes L.A. because it’s a fun and different environment,” reveals another pal. “But she just doesn’t like how everybody there cares about looks so much.”

Looking good Ali!

Fitness Secrets from the Stars!

Stars’ Bikini Body Secrets

Beyoncé

Maybe Beyoncé really is just like Us! Despite having a killer body, the singer confesses to a weakness for fattening fare. “I always want my mom to cook some soul food,” admits the Grammy winner, 28. But when she has to prep for bikini scenes (à la her new “Why Don’t You Love Me” video), she trades treats for six daily mini-meals of fruit and protein. “It’s a sacrifice,” says the 5-foot-6 star, who worked out five days a week, including running up to 6 miles and strength training, to prep for her recent world-tour kickoff. “She’s extremely driven,” her pro Marco Borges (creator of 22 Days nutrition bars) tells Us. “That’s why she looks so good!”

Carrie Underwood

No fad diets for this sexy singer, 27. “I’m honestly just eating healthier,” the 5-foot-4 vegetarian has said of prepping for her upcoming wedding to NHL star Mike Fisher, 30. Half-hour bike or treadmill workouts four to six days a week help the cheese lover burn off any splurges — all noted in a food diary, which helped her lose 20 pounds after her 2005 American Idol win. “The snacking you do adds up,” the size-2 star, who always keeps Kashi bars on hand, has said. “If you set a limit, you’ll think, do I really want to blow 250 calories on a candy bar, or would I rather save it for when I’m actually hungry?”

Lauren Conrad

When you’re trying to get in shape, it’s 70 percent diet,” the fashion designer tells Us of her slim-down philosophy. To that end, the 5-foot-4 author, 24, noshes on six small meals, totaling 1,500 calories, throughout the day. “I’m not really a meal person. I’m a snacker, so I eat all day long,” says Conrad, who shuns processed foods in favor of high- protein picks like apples with peanut butter or tuna salad.

Jennifer Aniston

Bikini season never ends for this fit size-2 star! “She very rarely misses a workout, even when she’s traveling,” a source says of the single 5-foot-6 yoga devotee, 41. Exhibit A: Between filming swimsuit scenes for Just Go With It in Maui , Hawaii , in May, Aniston hit the treadmill or StairMaster for an hour daily, sipped pureed papaya, pineapple and mango, and dined on veggies and fish. Back home in L.A. , the fitness fiend has added Tracy Anderson’s dance cardio to her routine as well!

Kim Kardashian

l ’d go to the gym for a while, and then I’d stop working out altogether,” the single reality star, 29, says of her old fitness routine. But since filming her own exercise DVD last year, she’s a convert. “She’s dedicated,” pro Gunnar Peterson says of his size-2 client, who tightens her core with standing crunches and plank extensions with their sessions five days a week. The 5-foot-2 star, also a devotee of L.A.-based fitness class Barry’s Bootcamp, is committed to a healthy diet, picking lowcarb fare such as chicken and salads and using the weight-loss supplement Quick Trim. “It’s hard,” she says of staying fit. “But I really see a difference.”

Fergie

It was really fun putting it on, but it’s been really hard getting it off,” the Black Eyed Peas singer, 35, tells Us of the 13 pounds she gained for her role in December’s Nine. Intense 90-minute cardio and weight workouts up to six days a week with pro Don Brooks, plus 1,200- to 2,000-calorie-a-day meal deliveries from L.A. ’s Diet Designs, did the trick.

BOUNCING BACK

Today, the 5-foot-2 star has banished the bulk she built from feasting on fried food and is back to a size 2. “Now I even want to push myself,” says the runner — who sometimes does 45- minute uphill hikes with hubby Josh Duhamel. “I’m committed to being in shape.”

My view on Jillian Michaels’ pregnancy comment…

Posted by Maria Kang on April 26, 2010

If you don’t read or watch a ton of news, then you probably haven’t heard of the comment Jillian Michaels recently made with Women’s Health magazine regarding her decision to not have a baby.

“I’m going to adopt. I can’t handle doing that to my body,” she told the magazine. “Also, when you rescue something, it’s like rescuing a part of yourself.”

I think that while many people are taking offense to her comment – I don’t think there is anything wrong with what she said. Firstly, she said she wanted adopt…which I think is a very admirable decision. Secondly, having a baby IS tough on your body and mind. So if you know right now that you are not ready to have a baby physically and mentally then you shouldn’t! Lastly, she really embraces womanhood of the 21st century….which is basically saying that if you don’t want to have a family or bear a child, then you shouldn’t feel pressure to! AND you should be able to express yourself.

Don’t get me wrong…I think having  a baby is the most blessed miracle in this world and I feel honored to be part of this miracle. I also think that it’s possible to be in fabulous shape even though you’ve had a child. Do I think things will be the same?

NO.

I think that if you are a busy, professional woman who doesn’t have a lot of extra time then it would be really hard to devote to someone else. I also think that your body HAS changed regardless if you are able to get it back to pre-baby shape. Sometimes it’s for the better! All I’m saying is that your body IS different.

While I was reading last night, the show “Desparate Housewives” was on in the background. In this episode, they focused on a mother who really didn’t want to be a mother. She even told her child (I think his name was Eddie) that “it’s not his fault, he ruined her life.”

So in this case, yes, I think if you know you’re not equipped to have a child you shouldn’t! Of course, everyone knows I am anti-abortion, so make sure you take protective and responsible measures before you actually conceive the child!

Jillian Michaels doesn’t want to lose her world famous abs!

Carrie Underwood’s eating out secret.

Posted by Maria Kang on April 23, 2010

Her secret?! DON’T EAT OUT!

And you know what? That’s pretty good advice. I eat the best when I’m eating all my meals from my lunch box. Not only does it helps you to  be in control of the ingredients in your food, but it also saves you money! In fact, I’d say I was at my heaviest when I’m eating out a lot – and usually too busy to cook my own foods.

How often do you eat out?

“I think the hardest thing about what I do is eating [healthy] because we’re all over the place. It’s fast food, there’s aftershow food, you get pizza, whatever.I don’t do that. I don’t eat out ever.”

“Every once in a while I have a day off and I might go to a restaurant — but no aftershow food and I keep my fridge stocked. It’s all about making a conscious effort. I don’t do anything crazy, but I definitely try to take care of myself.” – Carrie Underwood

She always looks awesome~!
